Jenocide Tops All Ages After Party

When the Pride Festival is over, the Pride Party will be just getting started. Fredericton Pride has an alternative After Party for Sunday, 7 August, Pride Day. It’s the All Ages After Party, put on by the Queer Theory Collective, at the Gallery Connexion, 440 York Street, Fredericton. Beginning at 9 PM, the show will start with performances by Linsay Morgan & Lyne Hache and Jamey Luvs. Pamela Pachal and the Dirty band will come on for a full set of her rockin’ soul stuff. Then at 11 PM, Jenocide takes the stage.

Jenocide last played at the Capital in Fredericton in March where I caught her dynamic stage show. Jenocide opened the show with some very hot and sophisticated beats and tunes, all done live from the stage through a series of beat boxes, synths and tone generators hooked though a Mac laptop. She did the entire show solo but it filled The Capital with a stage-full of sound. Jenocide put out a huge amount of energy through her strong-yet-sultry soprano voice –you couldn’t help but want to dance with her, she was so hot!  Jen is also an avid feminist, which seeps through her lyrics and stage attitude. She has no qualms about mixing dance, sex and feminism: “People get scared off by the word feminist,” she says. “But I just wanted to create a character that is strong, and not completely alienating. I have a message for those who identify with it, and if you’re about it, that’s awesome.” (from The Coast, 9.29.09).

DJ Fagalicioius spins your favourite dance tracks between the sets and close out the show from midnight to 1 AM. This is a drug and alcohol-free event. Refreshments will be available in the Gallery Connexion Café. Suggested donation is $5 at the door.
