QTC Pride Week Extravaganza!

Oh my god, here it comes. . . it’s getting really crazy around here. . . it’s QTC’s Fredericton Pride Week Extravaganza! Here’s the list of events summed up in one tidy column:

Sunday 7 August; 1-3 PM: Decentralized Pride Party @Fredericton Pride Parade. We’re broadcasting LIVE from CHSR, 97.9 FM.  BRING AN FM RADIO WITH YOU to the Fredericton Pride Parade. YOU ARE THE MUISC. Carry the battery-operated radio with you, tuned to 97.9, as you march in the Pride Parade. Everyone who marches or watches the Parade with the radio tuned-in is providing music on location for the Parade. We meet at the Victoria Health Centre parking lot, 65 Brunswick Street, starting at noon. The Parade kicks off at 1 PM. We march down the River Walk to Officers Square. The CHSR broadcast will continue until the Pride Festival starts at 3 PM.

Sunday 7 August; 1-4 PM: Get Your Freak On Pride Costume Contest. Wear your  most creative, stylish, OUTlandish costume for the Fredericton Pride Parade and Festival. QTC is providing an award for the Pride Parade and Festival goers who wear the most creative costume. March in the Parade with your costume to the Festival at Officers Square. Marchers who would like to compete for the Most Creative Costume prize will be welcomed on to the Festival Stage. QTC and Pride organizers will choose the Most Creative Costume. The Winner will be selected and awarded at the Festival. Get Your Freak On award includes gift certificates from the Gallery Connexion, Nirvana Bistro and Yoga, and Endeavours Art Supply.

Sunday 7 August; 9 PM to 1 AM: All-Ages After Party with JENOCIDE @ QTC’s Gallery Connexion, 440 York Street, in the old Chestnut Mill Complex. Features the extraordinary JENOCIDE, from Halifax. JENOCIDE, aka Jen Clarke, performs club-style dance music LIVE on keys and drum machines, and sings with her incredible voice. You cannot miss JENOCIDE at this special QTC Fredericton Pride event. Music for the After Party Dance provide by DJ Fagalicious.

Tuesday 9 August; 7-10 PM: Stonewall Uprising! Film. At QTC’s Galley Connexion, 440 York Street, in the old Chestnut Mill Complex. QTC is honouring Queer History showing the documentary film Stonewall Uprising!, by Directors Kate Davis and David Heilbroner. When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City on June 28, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall Riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world. Know your Queer History!

Thursday 11 Augst; 7-10 PM: Travesty Café Special Pride Edition. At QTC’s Galley Connexion, 440 York Street, in the old Chestnut Mill Complex. This is a special Travesty Café being hosted by the Queer Theory Collective in honour of Fredericton Pride 2011. Join our queer literary coffeehouse. Get up on to our Open Stage featuring poetry, prose, music, and comedy. The folks of QTC  would like to invite everyone to keep a theme of diversity and celebration of our differences in mind while choosing which songs, poems, skits, and anything or everything else you’d like to share. That said, what we really want is you and whatever you choose bring. Random socializing and silliness from 7-7:30pm, stage opens at 7:30pm. Special Feature: performance art debut by ROUGHGARDEN.
